Tech-Sights for SKS
« on: December 31, 2010, 03:36:13 AM »
Has anyone tried the reciever mounted peep sights for the SKS from Tech-Sights? The photos on the web page look like the sight mounts to the reciever rather than the reciever cover. If they work well, that would be a fine brush gun for deer. My older son loves peep sights. We have had a Williams peep sight on a Benjamin air rifle for years and he is an excellent maksman with that type of sight.

It looks good to me, and worth the risk for the price.  I'd go with the TS100 as I can't think why anyone would want to be changing the zero a lot on a brush gun.  But, the TS200 is only $15 more.  My SKS is just a collector and plinker though, so I'll probably stay with the original sights.

I have a set on my Russ sks they work very well. you take the cover pin out and replace
it with pin that comes with site also has set screws so it holds zero
you dont need the more expenseve one you can get your up@down with front site
you have to take off old rear site. Gives a lot more site raduis mine shrunk about inch and halft groups at 100 yards. Well worth the money. Rich
I rather be over the hill than in it

Notice the wide border around that sight's aperture.  Such sights aren't great for hunting because they block out whatever is on either side of the aperture.  It's relatively easy to install a Williams 5D 94-336 and you can use a ghost ring.  The 5D sight also mounts to the receiver and not the rattling cover.

I tried to look up the Williams sight you mentioned, but I found a different one listed for the SKS that fit in the stock location. Is the Williams for a different application requiring modification to fit?

I keep mine as a collector
I hunt with it some and use the sights on the rifle
