Following the sentancing Walter Jacobson wrote a piece on how effective a deterrent prison sentances are. In the article he named the number of IL politicans sent to prison in the last 70 years or so, and the list was long. Four Governors, two Congressmen, and probably about 1/2 a dozen Alderman.
It was an interesting read to say the least. Walter concluded that prison is no deterrent whatsoever, and I have to agree with him.
The problem with IL corruption is it's so deep seated, it's part of the culture. Just as a chimney sweep will inevitable end up covered in soot, so will an IL politician end up dirty.
I feel sorry for the decent, hardworking people of IL that have to support these thugs.
