The removal of the last troops there comes quite some time after the majority if the action that would traditionally be recognized as "war" ceased. And most of the troops have been out of Iraq since that time. Quite a few of the troops leaving now simply been changed in station to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, or Afghanistan. It's not like V-E Day or the surrender of Japan.

It's GREAT news.  Now if we can just remember history and NOT send them off on any other NON-DEFENSIVE missions.
Also let's get out of Afghanistan - leave them to return to their opium farms and 100BC way of living.

They never should have been sent in the first place "imo" I just hope they find a welcome worthy of their service. Not just hollow words of gratitude expressed by some slick talking politician.

I hope they can return to the jobs many of them left to serve their country, and a home to come home to at the end of the day, and as you said.....I hope they are never sent again to a non defensive war to profit a few individuals at the horrific cost to them.

I am happy to have our troops comming home.
I wish the left had gotten behind the war and supported our troops and the mission of ending an evil dictator.  While we did not find the weapons we were looking for we did find the efforts to build them, the documents that Sadam thought he had some WMDs.  With support of the country the opposition would have ended earlier, every leftist moron that shouted about the war, like Hillary, Kerry, Obama, all gave our enemies hope they could do what happened in Viet Nam and they can kill enough of our guys with bombs to make us give up.  And much like Samolia and Clinton Running from the attacks that downed the Black hawk, he ran and made Osama bolder, and we had more and more attacks ending in the hijacking of 4 air liners and 3,000 people being killed in a single attack.
Unfortunatly I think we are going to have to go back.   There was a book a few years ago by one of the Clancey like authors where Iran killed Sadam and took over Iraq with political influence and the fear of attack and created a large islamic state that sponsored terror and fostered attacks o nthe western world.
I fear we are leaving before the Iraqi government is fully set, and that we will have the Evil Iranian leadership take over Iraq and create a huge state that is going to do just that.  All be cause Liberals did what they thought would weaken the other political party and not what was good for the country and the world.
Afganistan - Again is a hot bed of terrorist activity and the more we question why they are there the more active the enemy.
General Gaap of N. Vietnam said if it were not for the Hippies, he would have lost the war, had it not been for hte peace movement we would not have killed as many soldiers to make a political statement.  Every time you question the war, the mission, the leadership, you put our troops in danger.

If memory serves........Hillary and Kerry voted for the Iraq invasion.
I respectfully disagree with your statement about putting our troops in danger when questioning a war. Our troops were put in harms way when sent to invade a country that posed no threat to our nation.

I'm quite sure that Junior doesn't remember it was the Dumycrats who were pushing to eliminate Saddam Hussein when they thought that Algore would surely be elected.  But when GWB prevailed, the Dumycrats soon changed their position and counted on the media and short memories to let it pass.  I have a very good memory.

Nonetheless, I also remember that I said at the time that the war in Iraq would not be popular for very long and it was a mistake to put troops on the ground.  No war should ever be faught that way again.  War should be so horrible that no potential enemy of ours would conceive of it.  Nuke em.

Do you mean NUKE the ones who attack our homeland or anyone we invade? I believe the reason according to GW for attacking Iraq was to rid the country of an evil dictator. At first it was for another reason, but he had to change that to evil dictator ::) Had we nuked them, he and a few of his chosen could have possibly survived, and the ones we were fighting for would have died.

I have an idea! Let the ones who want the war to meet on the battlefield, and leave the rest of us out of it.!

I'll be happy when my son comes home.  He will be on the very last convoy leaving Iraq.

"I voted for it before I voted against it."
And Hillary when making a bid for he Democrat presidential nomination, said that protesting the war was Patriotism.  Comments like these make our enemies will stronger, they see history and use it, The Democrats see history as a Class in High school, and something they want to rewrite to favor diversity, change how bad they looked (Al Gore Senior and his filibuster of the civil rights laws passed by Republicans) or make the US look bad and criminal- Obama wanting to say sorry for dropping two nukes on Japan to end WWII and saving about 1/2 Million US Soldiers and about 1 Million Japanese and how it was a bad desicion (made by a Democrat) to kill a few hundred thousand Japanese in the bombings.
