Brass bbl band "TopperT"
« on: December 12, 2011, 07:43:44 AM »
I've been away for about a year (or so) and just returned and we're still looking for the fore end spacer in brass? :'(   I wish I wish :P :-\ :'(  I had a couple for my Target Classic and old Shikari.

Been thinking of a barrel band, I may try to fit one from Dixie Gun Works.  I think if I simply trace my current BB they might be able to fit oe for me.

I moved this from another thread. I sent DGW one of the plastic bbl bands to have them try and match. This is after I had already bought a couple the prior yr and I split it and brazed back together it worked well but was some what labor intensive...so I sent them one and what they matched up was the exact same one I bought previously. I had some pictures on my computer but it crashed and all was lost and I am just now getting every thing back together. I will try and post some pics later this week with the #'s from DGW. I bought 4 more to work with but may try one first by cutting the stock back and putting the band where the stock is a little fatter. Kurt

I would dealry love to see a picture.  I really appreciate your posting this.  Thanks.  I found a bronze foreend spacer over on Gunbroker.com and just ordered two.  One will go on my Shikari, the other is going on my 38-55 TC.  I would LOVE to get a brass or bronze bbl band to go with the Shikari.  (LOVE THAT GUN) As I understand you, your thinking of cutting the stock back to fit the band.  That would make sense.  Please keep us all posted.  There may well be others interested as well.  Many thanks.

Guys bear with me on this as I can get on here from work and home but my home puter is still sick and may take me a little time to get some stuff posted. We are working thru some issues with my wifes health and still trying to stay on a heavy work schedual hopfully I can get most of it done with acouple of days of holiday. I am going to look in the Huntsman forum and see if I didn't post a few pics there. Kurt
Heres a pic of my .32 Huntsman not a close up but a start.

I should note that when I sent DGW a bbl band to match I told them I wanted brass only. So as Tim has shown there are a ton of bands out there that may fit as is but this is the only brass I have found. I also brought to the top on the Huntsman forum what I consider one of the best custom Huntsman rifles I have ever seen lots of brass and beautiful wood. kurt

THAT is one beautiful rifle.  I would dearly love my Shikari to look like that.

I have the bronze Fore end spacer coming, now for a bbl band.  A metal one plated would work.  I'll call Dixie.  I need a new Cat anyway.  I even considered taking the black plastic off and (horrors) giving it a shot of metalic paint.  Krylon has some that works great on plastic, their Fusion line.  I almost hate myself for typing this........but the right one would "look" vintage.
