Handi SB2 Stock Change Help?

I checked the FAQ above and found a partial answer to my question. The stock bolt is 9/16ths but I am wondering what tool people have gone at it with successfully?  I don't happen to have a 12" ratchet extension. Is that the only solution or is there a clever work around that I'm missing.

That brings back memories of when I got my first Handi and then started the tinkering!
 
I've always been a Jack of all trades and collected a lot of tools over the years so it was no big deal when I found my extension wasn't quite long enough.     Used to piggy back extensions all the time working on my old klunkers over the years, but never thought I'd be doing that working on my rifle!

My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

Nevermind.... I got creative and found that a 12" screwdriver worked well with a 3" extension and 9/16ths head. Not perhaps the most elegant solution, but it worked.

Cut a slot in the head and use a long screw driver.

It all goes back to being old and lazy.  I use a 16 inch extension and a 9/16 thin wall socket which I keep partly packed with some paper.  The thin wall socket gets into the tight synthetic stocks easier  You can actually pull back the extension without loosing your socket in the  stock ;)   The paper packing makes it much easier to hold a bolt tight to the frame to start it threading.

Early stocks actually had slotted screws NOT bolts!!
 
I have a dedicated thin wall socket, 12" extension and a ratchet, same as Peter...
 
A word of caution, Please be-careful the screwdriver or socket doesn't slip off. I have seen more then one butt stock ruined because the tool broke thru the side wall...

I took a cheap chinese socket, thinned it a little on the belt sander and welded it to a 12" extension. It's my dedicated Handi stock tool. :)

How many of you have "lost" a 9/16" socket inside a Choate stock? (Don't ask me how I know)...but now I have a super-long pair of needle-nose pliers on my bench....I sold one stock with socket included once...

My inelegant socket extension and screwdriver has done the job. Very pleased with the BC stock set on my 30-06 / 20 ga.
