model 1100 magnum question
« on: December 21, 2011, 03:54:23 PM »
I just picked up a used rem. model 1100 magnum in 12 ga.   My issue is the the last shell out of the magazine tube doesnt feed.   When the last shell lands on the load gate/lifter the bolt locks to the rear.   This doesnt seem normal to me,  Is there a problem here and if so what could be the culprit.  I am not  experienced in shotgun repair, but i do know my way around rifles pretty well.

It may only need a good and complete cleaning. Make sure you remove the spring from inside of the mag tube and clean the insides of the tube. Dust, dirt, grass seeds and all kinds of other junk can end up in the strangest places. Another thing may be that the spring may have been compressed over time, so it won't kick the last round out far enough to trip the release. It may need to be stretched out again or replaced. If you don't have a manual, I think you can go to Remington's site for instructions.

Hope this helps some,
