What do you feed your dog?
« on: May 28, 2013, 09:44:44 AM »
I see dog food commercials all the time that talk about vegetables and nutrients. I see alot of dogs these days suffering from diabetes. Kinda like humans, they eat to much grain. Did ya ever see a coyote raiding a vegetable garden? A lot of you guys have dogs in your avatars what do you feed them and is meat alone the right food.

Mine eat mainly meat along with table scraps and items about to go bad. No store bought food. Some of them will eat vegetables and some won't. All of them seem to like fruit pretty well. When the fruit trees start dropping they have a ball.

I think it was 45-70 gov who said fat lazy people have fat lazy dogs. If you over feed and underexercize anything it's going to be less healthy than something with a good diet and exercise. I don't know if all the carbs in grains are the blame for diabetic dogs? Seems more like the finger should be pointed at the owner instead of the feed company.

I try and stay away from high corn meal.  However, it has been fine in the past. My pecans didn't drop well this year, and every time a high wind blows my rascals have found a fattening feast.
