Selfbow from Blue Gum
« on: February 17, 2004, 10:39:39 PM »
Has anyone used the australian Blue Gum tree as wood for making a selfbow, would it be suitable? The blue gum is an invasive on the West Coast of the United States.

WhitecloudI do not have much info for you unfortunately hence my post...I think it is a white wood and probably quite soft. The trees in my area grow real straight so I wondered about its use for bow making. I am new to bow making and am trying to find a suitable stave to work with....we do not have yew or osage here!?[/b]
