Fred Rau's article in Motorcycle Consumer News on fake construction zones

Anyone else read this. Apparently the new way of generating revenue is for police to set up fake construction zones with reduced speeds and then ticket drivers who in turn get double fines. The article said that one of these set in Washington state was bringing in $8K an hour! I have no problem with enforcement of construction zones but give me a break with the fake ones!

Got a link?
Great scam if you can get away with it.
We have a world reknowned speed trap in the south part of our county.
Thyey lose their police commission every couple years and go thru the probation.
Then go back to work generating revenue once re-instated.

It wouldn't surprise me. Try driving through Illinois sometime. The whole state is a construction zone.

There's this, note the last paragraph:

And this:

Doesn't seem to be widespread yet, although sobriety checkpoints are.

I'm surprised that the prosecutor, an elected official, allowed it. Doesn't seem right or fair to me.

While traveling through Georgia the signs read, "Construction Zone Ahead', "Fines Double When Workers Are Present". On Saturdays and Sundays there were workers present. Mondays no workers were present. Compare Sunday pay to Monday pay.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Around here,(Michigan,Ohio,Pennsylvania) the cops don't have to do that if they don't want to. There's enough speeders going 10-20mph over the speed limit, if they just get out of the donut shops and write tickets, they'ld have plenty of money!!

They also keep construction zones going long after the work is complete and the workers and equipment are long gone.
Or opening a construction zone weeks before any kind of work is going to start.
The worst is when they are working on a 100 foot of highway and the construction zone is 6 miles long.
I have no problem slowing down through construction zones and I usually slow way down below the posted speed when there are workers on or close to the roadway. After years of driving a wrecker I can tell you that having vehicles pass by mere inches from you at any speed less than a crawl is not fun.
If you don't believe me try laying down on the white line while a bunch of knotheads whizz by you at 45 to 70 mph.
