.416 Rigby reduced loads

I am looking for some data for reduced loads in the Rigby.  I have 400gr RN Hornady bullets as well as some cast out of linotype gas checked 300's to work with.  Thanks in advance,  Mike C

The reduced load I use for practice is,

400 gr. Hornady RNSP, 88.5 gr. H 4350, 2,020 fps., 1.74" 5 shot group @ 100 yards

Start at 92 gr. and work down as in my Ruger M77 accuracy started to drop off drastically when I tried to go lower.  88.3 gr. gave me a group of over 2.5" and 88.0 gr. was over 3.25".  I can not help you with cast bullets as I don't use them except in my handguns(tried them in my Ruger No.1 .450 Marlin and accuracy wasn't satisfactory).  Hope this helped.  Lawdog

I've just started working with mine and understand the desire for some reduced loads.  Be careful when reducing powder charges in a casing of this size, there are some problems that can occur. It's usually best to stick with tested data when available.  You might want to take a look at the Accurate Arms website for some loadings that are lower pressure, as well as data for one lead bullet load.  They have data for some "plinking" loads with the mould that I use, which is the 350gr RCBS with velocitites running from about 1900-2200 fps.
