First or 2nd Generation Frame.
« on: December 23, 2011, 09:34:53 AM »
I have a T/C Contender that I bought new in late 70's or early 80's. It is in 45 Colt. Is the frame on my gun considered 1st or 2nd generation and will new barrels fit the frame?

Yours is a first generation the main difference is in the trigger guard pivit point yours pivits forward of guard where the 2nd generation has the pivit pin just above the trigger also refered to easy open all barrels will fit but you may have to stone the locking bolt on some barrels just a little. Some feel the trigger pull is better on the first generation.

Thanks DEACONLLB  :)   I was surfing here after I asked my question hear...and I understand that I have the 2nd "revision" of the original contender (or 1st gen).

I believe the second generation frames have the lever pivot in both the forward and the rearward positions but the hammer selector was synonymous with the second generation frames, and not the first. The reason I say this is because the Armour Alloy frames were second generation but NOT all "Easy Open"
