.375 Winchester barrels
« on: December 22, 2011, 05:53:10 PM »
How many would like to see a .375 Winchester accessory barrel? There are a lot more .375 diameter jacketed bullets, including spitzers, available than .378 (38/55). Cast bullet shooters could still shoot their lead bullets in the smaller bore.

Count me in. I'd buy the complete rifle in a heartbeat. I'd have to sell somethin' else first, though, but not a Handi.

Yep.  And then Hornady could make factory ammo with their 220 grain bullet.

I also like the caliber, I have a couple Marlin levers and would very likely buy a handi too, should they chamber it...

I'd love to see a .375" barrel, would save me a lot of money on a rebore to get the 375 Whelen Improved, don't really need a 375 Win, I already shoot 375 Win level loads in my 38-55 Shorty.  ;D

It is one of the few I would order also, to complete the rimmed cartridges. I would like a 38/55, but there is little difference and the cases are heavier and more durable. I would like a barrel, but I would take a whole rifle if need be. Count me in.+1

Numrich has 375 Win 94 barrels for sale ranging from 49 to 54 dollars, fully chambered and finished. Easy stub project.

I'd have to go for one, also. 22" barrel would be ok, but I"d prefer 26", easier to shorten it then to lengthen one. I"d like the rate of twist to be compatable with with the .375/.444 wildcat. Given the cost of shipping, fitting, etc., I'd probably just as soon prefer a complete rifle.

Great little cartridge, got 2 of em, Marlin and Ruger #3, also have 3 of the 38-55's Marlin CB and 2 of the Handi's.  A rebore could be done on a 30-30 for the easiest way to get one now.  JES (Google it) Reboring has a great reputation for his work, prices and turn around time.  I have a 30-30 AI I'm thinking of getting done.  Merry Christmas to all my GBO Brothers and Sisters!!!  DP

375 Win. is a great caliber. Years ago I had a Ruger # 3 in 375 and foolishly sold it. I could shoot both 375s and 38-55
cases in it. I never killed a deer with it but it sure did a number on a couple of raccoons with a cast 255 bullet.
Man I wish I had it back. Oh well!

Lots of Big Bore shooters use 38-55 and 30-30 brass to gain case capacity, 30-30 brass life is outstanding as Marshall Stanton of Beartooth Bullets puts it.  ;)

In working extensively with the .375 Winchester cartridge in my Marlin 375's, I've found that the hard cast, gas checked bullets will beat jacketed for velocity every time... and usually accuracy as well!   The alloy bullet has a lower friction coefficient and a better sectional density thus making a more efficient round when loaded with the gas-checked alloy bullets.

My favorite powders for the .375 Winchester are AA # 1680, RL-7 and surplus WC680.   These powders when coupled with the Beartooth .377"-250g LFNGC bullets give some very surprising performance!

Another plus for your rifle, if you are seeking top performance and saving nickels at the same time, try either cutting down some .38-55 brass, or simply fire-forming (see instructions in tips section "Foolproof Fire-forming") .30-30 brass to .375 Winchester configuration.   You will gain between 5% and 8% case capacity over standard .375 Winchester brass, and beat the &#361.00 per piece of brass prices as well!   Case life of fire-formed .30-30 in my .375's has been outstanding!

Hope this helps you out a little bit!

God Bless,

Marshall

If the land OD would be .375 I would buy several.
Try to look unimportant.   Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Only Handi so far is a 375 JDJ.

I would prefer my grooves to be .375 and my lands somewhat smaller.
