sharing a miracle and the 32 Winchester Special
« on: December 14, 2011, 12:16:38 PM »
I have just found out I am in remission from bone marrow cancer.  Its been a tough year for the family but God has graced us with a Blessed Christmas.  Praise God.

I am now able to funnel some funds into my shooting that remained frozen for obviour priorities.

I purchased a real nice Winchester 94 in 32 Special built in the 50s. I chose 32 Special because it is a favored cartridge by northern trappers and hnters here.  I can't think of a more educated bunch.

Ed Harris over on CBA and I have discussed touching up the throat to resemble a short ball throat at .323.  He raves about a custom 35/30-30 you built him.  With the short throat and 1 1/2 degree leade do you think a guy can get a mold that will drop 190 to 200 grains LFN and keep the GC in the neck with the length constraints of the Winchester.

Also I have calculated the DV for this bullet in FN meplat of .230 (.320-.090) and if it launches at 2000 fps or better it calculates out to 115 at the muzzle and about 100 at 100 yards.  Do the DV numbers work the same for this smaller caliber?  I really like the idea of the hard cast big meplat bullet if it applies to a 32.  I want to pack as much weight as possible in a short bullet for the Winchester.  The rifle will not hunt anything past a 100 yards and be a dandy camp rifle so I would like to trade BC for shortness and weight with the 1-16 twist.  Is this sensible?

About your cancer problem.  You and all readers.  Look hard into the natural cures which are well known, and by this I DO NOT mean any clinic which uses cemo, radiation, or surgery.  I've known several people who cleaned up  agressive cancers quickly, or slowly, but always effectively, with no death threats.    Natural cure means to help the body heal itself with it's own power, by assisting it nutritionally and with cleanup.

Now, the important thing you are asking.  I've sold many LDFN's in 170 gr for both 30-30 and 32 winchesters, with all customers being delighted.  No need to alter the throat at all.  It fits them as they are.  Use this bullet with air cooled wheel weight bullets +1% tin, which will produce about 12 bhn, and drive them at about 2200 fps.  It will be easy to get excellent accuracy at this speed with the soft alloy if you use LBT bullet lube.   Or, if you want maximum power, air  cool by placing a fan so it blows across the bullets, and cast in cool temps, preferably 60 deg or lower.  This will produce about 14 bhn after two weeks aging, and be capable of excellent accuracy at speeds to well over 2400 fps.   This is hunting info that applies to all 30 caliber, 32/8MM etc rifles in fact.  The LCFN has a superb ballistic coeficient so it will expand with these soft alloys at ranges out to at least 200 yards with a 2200 fps start velocity and 12 bhn or our to 300 with a 2400 fps 14 bhn alloy.

The DV does apply with smaller calibers but you'll probably get some bullet breakup with close range hits, and velocity has to be pretty frisky to get a good wound diameter.  Better to make bullets that expand like quality jacketed bullets, which the above will.

Thanks, once Christmas family time is done I'll email an order for getting started.  Push through slugs, lapping compound, book, and some Blue Soft.  I've lined up some cast bullets for lapping at the right hardness and will lap prior to slugging the barrels for molds.
