58 cal minie ball for 20 ga sabot
« on: December 24, 2011, 08:11:19 AM »
Hi All,

I found a post (on another forum) were a fellow stated that the 315 grain Lyman 575494 made a great 20 ga sabot load using a regular shot cup & blue dot, IIRC.  Anybody have experience with this 58 cal minie ball as a 20 ga sabot load?  I have tried 440 & 460 grain 58 cal minies in Blue Orange Duster sabots with minute of deer results @ 50 yards.  I think the minie balls I have are too heavy for the 20 ga.

I found a fellow to cast me the 58 cal Lyman 575494 Minies and should have them in hand within a week.  Now to run down a pound of blue dot powder and see how they fly.
