I picked up a Ruger LCP this past Monday. I love it. Slips right in my pocket.

Nice gun! I like mine. always with me. never malfuntions. Just have to remember that it's there when I change out of my work clothes! I use a pocket holster, and it disappears.

I bought a pocket holster as well. I have carried it most this week and forget it is even there.

I carry mine in a pocket holster as well. Its a nice little carry gun. I reload for mine and also cast my own bullets for it so I have shot it quite a bit without breaking the bank. I notice that while target shooting if I dont concentrate on the front sight I have a tendency to allow the muzzle to drop and I hit low. If I concentrate on my sight picture and do everything right. the gun shoots some decent groups at 20 feet for a pocket pistol with crappy sights. It also seems that the more I shoot it and the more the trigger is pulled the smoother the trigger pull gets.

Not a fan myself of the trigger pull. However, for its intended use (sticking it in my pocket) it is fine. Nice little gun.

Thinking about getting one. Do I need my head examined 1st? How's the power factor, recoil, & muzzle blast?

Well you definately want to hang on tight but you don't buy a gun like this to target shoot, you buy it to save your life. I love it. I would recommend getting one!

I got to put about 50 rds through the LCP over the weekend. The little LCP is a nice little gun. Certainly better looking than my P3ATs, and they lock back on an empty mag. I like that!The LC9 is not much bigger, and is a good copy of my PF9, which I am very fond of. The PF9/LC9 is just a little big for my pockets, but carries great in an IWB holster. I almost always have the .380 in my pocket if I don't have a larger gun (Frequently the PF9). It's great to have so many choices in small reasonably powerful pocket guns these days!

My wife and I went to a gun store we heard about that was an hour's drive from home. We started in the store when she spotted a gift shop next door. The gun gods were looking out for me when my wife decided to go to the gift shop. I was perusing the gun department (about 500 ++ guns) when a salesman ask me if he could help me. I told him I was looking for a Ruger 1911 and he told me they were too. He had received 1 in three months and sold it 20 minutes after it was put in one of the handgun counters. He said that he had just got in a Remington 1911R1 and that was my downfall. I looked and caressed it and backed off and looked some more. The price was $649.95 and I thought this is better than waiting forever for a Ruger. About that time my wife walked in and ask me if I was going to buy a gun. Then she said she wanted one, too. I ask the salesman what he had in a .38 or .380 that would be a good CCW for my wife. He pulled out a Taurus revolver and a Ruger LCP. My wife held both of them, asked a bunch of questions about how to load them, which one kicked the most, etc. The salesman looked at me and I smiled and he told her about all the advantages of the LCP. My wife picked up both, laid them down and picked up the LCP and told me get that old heavy gun I was drooling over because she was taking the LCP home. In fact she said she would pay for them if the salesman would throw in some bullets for both guns. She got the LCP for $289.95, the Remington for $649.95 and the salesman liked her attitude so much, he threw in a pocket holster for he LCP. I ain't going gun shopping again without her.

Bought one new, carried it all the time until I did a test into wet phone books. Got rid of it immediately. Power vs. ease of carry is a long debated issue. All I know is, if I think I need a gun, I want the biggest one I can legally have. I want the most power available. If I were of the opinion that I don't need a gun, then I wouldn't carry one at all. Carrying a .380, any .380, is like saying "I probably won't need to use it, so I'll tote whatever is easiest to tote."

Hi Mike, I carry a S-W Bodyguard with .38 Special +P's. My wife can't accurately handle it because it recoils close to one of my 4" .357 mags. She has a Ruger LCP .380 and she can handle it accurately for her--7 rounds in a pie plate at 15 feet. The recoil is not a factor with her. Confidence + accuracy = her life saved. You want the most power available. How about a 2 1/2" .44 magnum? Compare recovery time--first shot-then pulling back on target for 2nd shot, etc. What if you miss on 1st shot? I will take a .380 or a .38 over a .44 mag. any day. Are you speaking from experience or conjecture?

I shot my LCP for te first time yesterday. I shot a 50 round box of ball and a 25 round box of Hornady Critical defense. IMO the recoil was not bad at all. It was more accurate than I thought it would be with the ball ammo. The Hornady ammo was not as accurate but good enough.I shot @ 7 yards. I started wearing contact lens last week for the first time and my 59 YO eyes were not focusing on the sights. I did better than I thought I would with my SIG .45 and S&W M63 .22 but they have far better sights.

I shot the Buffalo Bore +P 100gr Hard cast in my last LCP, before that in a P3AT. Reliable, powerful,etc. These little guns ( .22, .25, .32 included) are most effective for neck/face. Gruesome, I know, but many LEO have been killed here in Utah by gang members who used .25's & .22's to shoot them in the neck, up close. Years ago I personally saw a guy who had just been shot in the cheek with a .32 hardball by his step brother he fought with all the time, right across the street from us. Bullet just stuck there, but he immediately swelled up like a poisoned dog! Stopped all the fight! Sinus' are notorious bullet traps, so "face gun" is better rendered "neck/eye socket/head" gun...in that order. Only hollow point I really trust in a handgun is the Corbon DPX, even in small guns, if available. But in a .380...I just don't think one could beat that BB 100gr hard cast +P!! Good luck to you.

I went with Speer Gold Dots for my defense rounds of choice in my LCP. How about the rest of you? What do you shoot as a defense round?

I bought a laserlyte to install on it. Watched a couple of videos and it looks like a pretty easy install. I've got to buy a punch or something to push the pins out. Anybody know what size punch I will need?

Picking up an LCP with LaserMax Monday-will keep you posted. Any "issues" to date with your LCP? What pocket holster are you guys using?

Three bears, I haven't installed it yet. It goes on the right side if you are holding it in the shooting position. The nice thing is that it will fit any IWB holster (supposedly). I am going to try and install it tomorrow. Let you know.
