G2 Contender hammer spur snapped off

Argh...the hammer spur on my Contender snapped off! No idea why, but it did.


Anyone else have this happen?

I have one that is cracked. I keep expecting it to break. I hate to send it away for replacement because I had a trigger job done on this receiver at bullberry. Please post up your fix for this. I am sure I will be replacing one soon.

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that.


In looking at the snapped edges, this stuff looks like pot metal to me. Most disappointing.


I've had several older contenders, and never had a problem at all with any of them.


I'm hoping the repair is covered under warranty, although it's a pain to have to send it in. Update on that....I tried to email TC customer service, but the email address they list is apparently no good, as I got a message that my email is undeliverable. what in the world?


I'm thinking of selling off my G2 once I get it back.

I've had a hammer and a trigger to break. Sent the frame back to TC for repair after a nice phone call. Both repairs were made and returned within 2 weeks. If you like your G2, then have it repaired.  I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water.

G2 hammers are a bit weak in the "wrist" area of the hammer.  That happened when they redesigned it to look like the Encore.  Something to keep in mind for those of you who have broken hammers... if you use/used a hammer extension for scope use please stay away from an extension made of steel.  I only use aluminum ones because the added weight of the steel extensions will nearly guarantee that you will have a broken hammer.

Call these guys, they might be able to help you.  I just bought some parts for my T/C's from them and it was fast and painless.
