Big South Fork hunting
« on: November 25, 2011, 02:25:29 AM »
I know there are many of us out there who like hog hunting. I am thinking of going to BSF during deer season as one can shoot both deer and hogs. I am looking to camp up there for a few days during the week, probably a Mon/Tues. Any other TN hunters care to join me?

Did you have any luck in the BSF?  It has been very tough hunting up here for the most part this season.

Have the laws changed for hunting hogs in the BSF?  They changed the state regs.  Did they change them for BSF?

State regs allow us to shoot hogs during deer season as before. Prior to the change you could hunt them anytime, now....for most of us it's only during deer season:

Due to changes in the Tennessee hunting regulations, wild hogs may be hunted in the Big South Fork NRRA from Sept. 24, 2011, through February 29, 2012, in both Tennessee and Kentucky

:)  Howdy! You would think that if the wildlife dept in Tennessee could see what hogs have done to Texas and other states that the season would be year round with no bag limit. Always, Gene

I called last year and talked to a park ranger. He told me it had been years since he had seen a hog in the park.

Gene, The state seems to believe that people are trapping hogs and releasing them in Tennessee.  They seem to think if they don't have a season then that practice will stop.

Not sure about their thinking, but that's the reason behind it.

It's created a lot of controversy, and the state legislature has started looking into it.
