Swenson 1911 45acp barrel and national match barrel bushing????
« on: December 23, 2011, 01:53:56 PM »
I just ordered a new swenson 1911/45acp drop in barrel and a swenson national match barrel bushing with it.  I may try this in one of my other 1911's, they say it improved the accuracy.  Right now wwwmidwayusa.com has both barrel and nm bushing on sale.  The barrel is only $39 and the bushing is $9.99.  I figure this would tighten up the standard GI loose fitting standard barrel and barrel bushing for sure.    Any thoughts??

With my testing background and being retired missing doing the testing i figure for the cost of the barrel and bushing i could take one of my new plain jane GI 1911's "the one that has the loosest barrel to bushing fit" and shoot it with the orginal barrel and then change the barrel to the swenson drop in barrel and swewnson national match barrel bushing and using the same ammo to see if the groups at 25yds increase?  For just $50 investment if it gets better like the reviews say about it I may have another accurate toy to play with. I picked up a benchrest fixture for handguns now too.  CZY

The swenson barrel $39 and the swenson national match barrel bushing arrived today.  The add said it may need a little fitting but i haven't tried it in a 1911 yet.  I did notice the swenson nm barrel bushing is a tad loose on the barrel so there is no fitting in that spot.  Buying a new replacement barrel and barrel bushing like the swenson parts is worth it if were changing out worn parts. The USGI barrel from sportsmans guide was $59. But like i said above i'll compare them to the stock 1911 barrels that they came with. The target tells the real story and doesn't lie.  CZY
