TRENDING: Pelosi: Obama should run against Congress head shot 1 Posted byCNN Producer Gabriella Schwarz  Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) – House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said she is comfortable with President Barack Obama running for re-election on an anti-Congress platform.
During an interview broadcast Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," the former House speaker said the president is right to wage a race against the Republican majority in the House.

"I think that the president – and for the good of the country, forget Democrats, Republicans – for the good of the country, I think it's really important for the president to make the race that he is running against a do-nothing Congress," Pelosi told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.
Obama, frustrated with what he calls the inaction in Congress, has said he will act without Congressional approval when he can to pass his agenda. Following Republican threats to obstruct confirmations he put forth, Obama made four recess appointments Wednesday, including Richard Cordray as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
When asked if the president is throwing her and Democrats under the bus by bypassing the chamber ahead of the 2012 elections, Pelosi said: "We don't feel that way."
"Our races are about the House of Representatives, one district at a time. We think we're in good shape," Pelosi said. "We want the president to run the race that is important for the country, and this do-nothing Congress must be defeated."
The California representative has appeared in 2012 presidential news of late because of a 2008 ad about climate change in which she appeared with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich has called the ad the "dumbest thing I've done in the last four years." Pelosi said she did not regret the spot and pointed to ethics allegations leveled against Gingrich while he was speaker.
"He who has been fined $300,000 by the ethics committee, you'd think he'd consider that a big mistake," Pelosi said.
"Since you brought up my name in association with him as the dumbest thing he ever did, I think there's plenty of stiff competition for that honor, as far as his activities go," she added.
When asked if she ever met GOP frontrunner Mitt Romney, Pelosi said: "I don't think so. It wasn't memorable if I did."
