New single shot 12 gauge pardner
« on: January 05, 2012, 02:12:06 PM »
ok i got a walmart card for a safty bonus at work and i though i should go blow it befor i did something stupid like use it on something i need.  any way i have been kinda thinking about getting another single shot 12 gauge and retiring my great grandfathers.  so i did i wasnt happy with the stock but i though it could be fun just pick up a replacement for it can't be that hard right.  well its truning out to be hard to find a nice stock i have done the search thing and i am either missing it or just plain stupid could be both.  so a couple of questions

1 does any one make a replacement stock for a my gun?  i have found nice walnut stocks but they where for round tangs

2 how well does the Moyer's brass replacement parts fit?

No experience with the moyers parts, never had a problem with the stock trigger gaurd on any of mine. regarding the stock.

What don't you like about it? H&R makes numerous different styles of factory stocks that you could probably purchase directly from them if you called the factory

1. Gunstocks Inc (http://www.gunstocksinc.com/web_pages/Plate-pics/NEF-stocks/Handi-rifle-stocks.htm) and
Boyd's (http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/NEF-or-H-R-Thumbhole-Stocks-s/204.htm) for stocks and sometimes from Brownells or Midway or
Choate (https://secure.riflestock.com/catalog_page.cfm?PCID=1&MID=11&PSCID=267&Lev=S3) as well as H&R direct.
2.  from what Tim has stated about them the Moyer's are rough castings and take a good bit of fitting etc.  8(

I doubt you'd be happy with Moyers H&R parts from my experience and many others with them, Midway used to carry them, but don't now, were listed as discontinued by the manufacturer, so I don't think they're even available even tho they're still on Moyers website. The reviews at Midway are telling.

Thanks i will stay away from moyers

also thanks for the link ot boyds square tang i didnt see it.  the only thing wrong with the stock is its bulky and im not sure what the wood is its kinda ugly.  i was just wanting to polish up this gun a little maybe try to make it look like a higher end gun than it is.

Your Pardner won't work with the square tang stock either, those are for old H&R shotguns like the model 1900 and 1908 made 70-100yrs ago, they're built a lot different than the Pardner which uses modern stocks.

H&R makes the Topper Deluxe Classic stock, part number is on the retail parts page in the FAQs.

Part number and price for the BC stock are in the FAQs too, wouldn't be my first choice for a 12ga tho unless you cut it off and add a pad or at least use a slip-on.
