Kayaking inside whale's mouth - Phony newspaper picture, see Snopes post below

Heres' an unusual actual non-photoshopped picture of a whale that has come up for a mouth full of herring (the small fish in the water near the jaw of the whale, and by the kayak). This was at Katlian Bay, near Sitka, AK. The whale's mouth is fully open, so the lower jaw is on the left, and upper jaw with baleen is on the right. The man in the kayak is literally within the jaws of the whale. The local dentist operating the kayak was not injured.

This was in the papers this summer.  I think the old ticker would have stopped then and there.  Waiting for one of those breaching whales to come down on a kayak. 

A good friend who has recently moved to Alaska, and taken up Kayaking, suddenly decided she did not want to go out on the ocean.  She will stick to the rivers with me.

The whale was probably just needing a quick exam from the dentist.
 
I'm very happy to do my kayaking in fresh water where whales seldom venture.  However, we do get them water lions and they make me nervous enough.

Good catch! It seemed highly improbable, but it did come from a newspaper and I assumed it was good. So much for the last thread of credibility of newspapers, I guess.
