Just purchased a VZ-24 customized....... got some ?????'s
« on: January 18, 2004, 04:39:03 PM »
FIRST C&R rifle, just not stock..  Gonna get more, soon I hope.

I just bought a customized VZ-24, that a local Colorado gunsmith rebarreled to 308, shortened the stock, and added a gibbs magazine to.  First off, looks good, cycles well but I have some questions.

1.  Looks like he drilled and tapped it for a mount, 2 holes forward and one back.  Any suggestions for a cheap mount?

2.  The bolt is still straight, so can I leave it as far as mounting a scope?

3.  The gibbs magazine starting to seperate in the front allowing the follower to come out, and pushing the rounds to far up.  Should I try to just fix it with JB weld or something, or is there a cheap place to buy a few mags, other than Gibbs Rifle companies 29 dollars a piece?

Thanks for all your help..

You can fix it once, right or twice cheap.

The three holes sounds like drilled and tapped for a Leupold scope mount.

Get a new magazine and forget about "repairing" $29 buck is cheap.

Straight Bolt

The straight bolt may be a problem. The scope will probably interfere with it. You may have to buy a bent bolt conversion kit.
