none are available from wholesalers.  gun shop said they are not going to make them anymore. best gun that ruger ever made. they stoped making side by side. guess prices will really go up now.

They needed the capacity so that they could make more AR's and 1911's.  I've always wanted a red label.  I'd better hurry.

The Ruger Red Lable is not a bad gun but it did not have a favored reputation among the skeet, trap, and sporting clay shooters.  It was only made as a field gun.  No compitition models were marketed.  The less than $2000 o/u market is highly competitive.  For near the same price one can buy a Browning, Beretta, or Winchester gun.  Shotgun World and Sporting Clays websites have the whole story.

I have one...it's nice and shoots well.  I went to a nationally recognized skeet/trap club in MA to shoot with my uncle who's a member.  Even though I shot almost as well as the average guy and gal who shoots there every week, (I generally break around 20 pidgeons) most commented that I needed a "better gun." 
I do want a fancier gun....but not a better one.......

It's a shame cuz the 28 ga was really something.  American made on a true 28 ga frame.  Light and lively. The 28" straight stock will be a real nice one to own.

  Same price with less pizazz than Beretta...low sales...it's done.   It's NOT in the 2012 catalog.

I can pick up low end Beretta's and Browning's for $1100 all day long---local retailer discounts them when they sit for so long---even at $1100 they sit.
Last Red Label I looked at was $1400---buzzy rib and poor wood to metal fit---sad but true----AND no where in the same league at Beretta and Browning all for $300 more---its demise was inevitable.

  I've had 3 or 4 of them, didn't like them at all, so i won't miss them one bit.
 
  NOW, if they had made one that was light, that ballanced properly and had double triggers, i may have kept one!
 
  Oh yea, i want the hammers to fall EVERY time i pull the triggers, whether one bbl. fires (or miss fires) or not.
