I'd go with a bonded core 165 grain.

For me I am dealing with getting ready to start the reloading process for the 308 handi myself. i am starting out with the 150 grain nos bt as its high bc is great. It has had a history of being a little explosive but I am going to keep the speeds at the lower spectrums of the powder loads and see what happens.

Now there is a Ford vs Chevy question!!  LOL

About any 150-180 Grain bullet will do the job. I would choose the same as Demented and choose a 165g bullet.

I shoot a Speer 165g RN in my 308 & 307 Winchesters. It's shot dozens of deer and a couple bear in the last 25 plus years. Never a single complaint from me or them. ::)

my handi really likes 150 grain nosler BT with varget, but just got back from the range shooting 180 grain hard cast round nose at 1900 fps grouped 3 in 2 inches at 150, thinking i like cast bullets

In Alaska I used the plain-Jane Hornady 150 gr. spitzers with IMR 4064 and they did the job with one shot on deer.  Never saw the need to shoot a bear so I couldn't tell you about those but I personally would have no qualms with using them for that also.

However!  I did have a black bear come to check me out for lunch; I put a round between his paws to get his attention as he was ignoring my yelling and waving my arms.  I never felt so naked in all my life with a single shot rifle and no cartridge in the chamber!  Luckily the bear took the hint and ran the other way...

These are what we use for deer and bear here in Ontario... where they grow BIG, if they work well here they should work anywhere...
