I realize this is not a Encore or Contender But I thought it would be appreciated here if it needs to be moved to a different section I am sorry. I personally don't like it.

Worth a looksee, but the author of that article wrote at least one very misleading statement in it.

"You buy one Contender, and several, or even dozens, of barrels, from .17 Hornet to .416 Rigby in the later versions."

I enjoyed my 416 Rigby "Encore" barrel, but one on a Contender or G2?   :o ::)
Yeah he probly meant by later versions on the Encore, but that's not what it reads and a nimrod new to TC's may not know that.   We all know a nimrod is still safe as they'd never get a 416 Rigby barrel for a C or G2 frame.

And what about the rimfires?   ;)    ;D

One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Anybody going to the shot show?
If you do wonder if you could get me any catalogs/literature from the T/C booth they may have set out for grabs.

The stock sure has a different look. Almost looks like a european style where it curves down to the recoil pad.

I looked it over after seeing it mentioned on another site last night.  One of the fellows there actually thought he would be able to use the same scope setup between barrels (and maintain zero).  They use one mount on the barrel and the rear in the normal rear of receiver location, IMHO not a good way to go on a interchangable barrel.  It may be a little more expensive having a sight setup or scope for each Encore/Contender barrel but I have the feeling the price may well be cheaper than the Dimension setup.  I haven't found anyone that has a price posted as yet, anyone else?

Since T/C closed the custom shop you can't get barrels for encores. I would think they would open the shop back up so they could service their existing customers rather than go after others.

Just what the market needs, another plastic rifle.

Just when I thought most bolt actions were boring...   Leave it to TC!  I do like the stock design. It's a good sign that TC is expanding and will likely bring new customers into the fold. It could expand into an aftermarket customization like the Contender did.

I saw $650 list for a complete rifle, $200 for a barrel, don't remember prices for the bolt ($120?) or the magazine. Small caliber, med. caliber, full caliber and magnum off the same receiver with sub MOA guarantee. Could be interesting...

I wish them luck with it. I don't see one in my future. Has anyone heard of any changes for the Encore or Contender? I guess they will probably put all their eggs in one basket with this new rifle.

If Thompson makes a barrel in 300 blackout or 300 whisper,, I'll buy one in a heartbeat.

I am surprised that they design a quick release rear mount if they were going to mount the front one on the barrel.
That way they can keep the scope with the barrel. Such as with a cantaleiver type mount.
Nice idea of being able to switch barrels, but I'm not impressed with the design.
And also, it will take two receivers to go from short to long action calibers.
I carry a single shot.
'cause it only takes one shot.

I like the design, but some with love it or leave.

Same universal stock and receiver, but accepts cartridge color/letter coded barrels, bolts and magazines.

Good concept for the youth, start with a 243 Winchester for big game and grown up to a 308 Winchester or 270 Winchester and add a 223 Remington for varmints.

Haven't really looked at it much, but my first thought was....wow, what a long reciever for a .223 action ::) ??? ;) .  Well anyway, I guess now we know why S & W wanted TC's barrell facility.
