Yet another choke question
« on: January 21, 2012, 04:57:58 PM »
I am sure this has been asked and may be a FAQ.  I can't find it using a search,
I picked up an H&R choke tube at a yard sale today.  It is marked H&R  and has SSB on it.  It fit my 27.5" 12ga pardner barrel perfectly.  It calipers at .713ish.  I assume the SSB is steal shot.  It is an extended choke tube.  Can anyone tell me the inside diameter of H&R choke tubes.  I am hoping it is a xtra-full/turkey tube.
Thanks

at .713 it isn't a Turkey choke.  Typically those are in the .64-.67 exit diameter sizes.  Extra Full is .619,  Full is .700, improved Modified is .705, Modified is .710, and Skeet2 is .715.  I'd say yours is a Modified that's opened slightly from usage or could be a Skeet2 that is slightly tighter.  ;)

Yep, looks like Modified.  I measured some of my other chokes this morning.  For $3 it really doesn't matter.  Gotta love the H&R yard sale finds.
