KIK 1.5
« on: March 22, 2012, 10:32:11 AM »
The 5 rounds in the bull were from the 44-77 shooting 76 grs of KIK 1.5 behind the Brooks postel lubed with nasa lube, sitting crossstick at 300 yds. This rifle really gets along good with that powder. ;D
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

Don, words all BPCR shooters like to hear.  If I can knock the silly wets down at 500m with 1.5Fg in a 38-55, you'll be totally ecstatic shooting them with your 44-77.  I've got a box of 43 Spanish split loaded with 1.5Fg and FFg for a go on the rams and Homer when I go to Ridgway in May with the Rolling Block.  Good shooting, Pardner

Now, for a bit of ribbing, if you don't mind ... how long did it take you to draw that target? ;D
Try these maintenance targets ... http://www.pistoleer.com/targets/highpower/
I keep 4 or 5 of each under the carpet in the truck bed - 100 to 1000yds and leave my magic markers at home  ;)

;D Thanks John, I'm trying real hard to get up a load that will make the grade to go to the BPTR championships in Raton and I'm thinking if this one is going fast enough to make specs,,, it's a keeper. 8)
:o I got a whole friggin big box full of F class targets,,, so if I take a monsterous sharpie to the back side of one of those f classes , all of a sudden I got me a SR-3 8)
And when I get thru at 300 all I gotstado is turn the target around and back off to 600, and I'm a practicing for Raton... ;)
Ya know you really ought to make plans to go to Raton this year, I think it would be good to get a bunch of us there as they have given the target rifle it's own venue...

Don:
KIK - give 2f a try in your 44-77.  It has about  100 fps more and burns clean.  At least they were the items shooting my 38-55, chrono and oven test of the foul

Targets:  Makes sense - no more ribbing

Raton:  Well, my plane fare went to Gary Quinlen today for a 96%'er Wurfflein in 22LR, a rifle that I've always wanted to own.  And coins will be tough for a few years too.  Just finished remodeling the kitchen, soup to nuts, and am redoing a 25 yr old safety hazard 24 x30 back deck with Azek, new railings, etc.  Coins all on an equity loan that will need to be paid off out of a small pension & social security.  If the Worthington Center matches moved to Camp Perry, I'd be there in a heart beat because I could drive.  Presume you and Carol will be driving down this year?

John those 3 holes in the upper right were with KIK 2f. Shot those prone, the mirage was horrible, from down there and the grass was tall enough to give a lousy target definition. Might run that test again. With the Goex Cartridge velocity was just a few fps of the Raton fudge factor so I'm pretty sure the 1.5 loads will be alright. The recoil sure went up.
Don't know if Carol is going along or not, she's not real interested in shooting that one. But she might want to go along to go on down to Abq to visit her cousin, or go spend a few days with my baby sister up near Trinidad... Time will tell I spoze.

Don, believe you read w44wch and I are going to have a 50 round shootout at Ridgway in May.  So I go to load 50 rounds of 38-55 with 2010 FFg and the old Ideal 37584 mold I picked up.  It's 319gr and the same COL, design and weight as the Ideal 375166 except more GG's.  I go to get a can of FFg KIK and I only have 2 cans of it left.  Time to order more and get some FFFg too.  Here's the 37484:

The 375166 shoots a house a fire so I'm expecting good results with this bullet too

I just ordered 10 lbs of the 1.5, that will get me part way thru the season if it all works out like I hope.
Then I'll need to order some 2f as well so I'll split a case with 1.5 and 2 and probably have the odd can be a 3f just for kik's and grins.
Kurt was running some of the older kik today in his 50 and apparently really getting good results.

Don, hope Kurt posts the results, especially the velocity. I have about a half of case of the 2004 & 2007 lots ... just taking up space
