I need a new bow!

Well not really but the Pearson Flame that I have was bought in 1990.  I think it is about time to buy a new one.

I shoot 75-80 pounds at 29" and like the 41" lenght that I currently have.  I know that no one makes an 80lber. anymore. I think that the Pearson has a let-off of 45% so anything new will be better--------never mind the speed------it gets  there.

What do you guys suggest out there.  I haven't been in a bow shop since comming to Alaska.

P.S. It should be able to shoot through a grizzly. :roll: Kidding of course.

Mathews.  Get the Conquest.  It has the length plus the letoff and shootability.

I really dont keep up on that, but have been shooting bow for 26 years and I would not give up my conquest.  I am not a short bow fan and was glad to find this bow.  But they are not cheap.

Just bought a Mathews Icon yesterday.  Shot a Hoyt Provantage Hunter for the last 13 years, a couple Bears for 15 years before that.  My fingers, elbow and shoulder are giving me trouble, decided to go to a release so I didn't have to quit.  I shot several bows prior to deciding to go with the Icon, it's the smoothest compound bow I've ever shot.  As soon as I get used to the release, it's going to be very accurate, w/i the first 15 shots, I was already shooting groups with the arrows touching.  It is also very quiet and supposed to be the most forgiving bow Mathews makes.  This is a good time to buy a bow, 20% off on this one!!!

I shoot a PSE NOVA V-4 and a MARTIN jaguar. I got the Martin a year ago, and I'm very pleased with it. And for the money, the Martin i got ( which is a single cam) costs me only 270.00. The speed it has i had checked is 305 fps. My nova is still my hunting bow of chioce because of how quiet it is. REMEMBER , just make sure the broadhead is good and sharp.

While I will keep the old Person Flame as a backup but I bought a new bow.

I researched everything on the internet that I could find. Read all of the reports and personal experiences and made a decision.

I finally settled on a BowTech Pro 40 Dually, LH 60-70 pounds.  It should shoot according to the reports 338 fps or about 110 fps faster than the Person.

I don't have it yet but should in about 10 days.  I had to order it since there are no archery shops within 300 miles of the house.

Good luck with that Bowtech when it comes in.  Bowtech is one of the companies that are on my list when it comes time to purchase a new bow.

The new BowTech came in and left already.  It was blue with silver stripes and chrome cams.  :oops:

The new BowTech Pro 40 Dually is back and the correct color this time. It took a little time to set the bow up as I have never done one from scratch.  I down loaded the set-up guide from Easton's.  It was a big help.  Having a distinct plan sure helps.

I have never shot a hard cam before. Quite a difference in pulling it back as compared to my Pearson wheely.  The bow has a solid stop at the end of the draw and not too much room for error if you start letting yourself go forward.  It is fast!!!!  About 110 fps faster than my Pearson.

It was nice to have all the sight and rest holes already drilled.  My last 2 compounds I had to drill everthing.  It is also extremely smooth and quiet. Especially for all that energy. I missed the target setting the bow up and from 20 yards drove an arrow through the 5/8 sheetrock, 4" insulation and steel siding on the woodshop. :roll: I better move some lumber tomorrow.

I am using Easton Axis 340 @ 9.5 grains per inch.  Tipped with 125 Thunderheads.  Which means a 400 grain arrow weight.

I haven't even put 100 arrows through it yet but see potential here.  I have already ruined 2 fletchings by shooting them off.  It will take some time getting used to the new bow. I have it cranked down to about 63 pounds and am sure it will do better when I crank her back up to 70.

This should work for bears this spring if I can get accurate enough with it.

Wow...110 fps faster than your old bow...Very nice.  Seems like you have yourself a speed demon there...Congrats on that new bow.

The slip that came with the bow says I should be getting 321 fps.

The old Pearson was about 200-210 :eek:

Excellent...When I purchased my new Pearson Spoiler Lite 2 years ago I picked up about 70 fps on my old Browning Wheel Bow...That old Browning was shooting about 200 also...
