Did a quick 20-minute range session this afternoon to function test the TI unit. Fired 100rds of the recommended CCI Mini-Mag 36gr HP ammo (my favorite stuff).
Well, the first pull went
click!
It was a light firing pin strike.
Fortunately, after that somewhat less-than-auspicious start, the next 99 went through with no FTF or FTE. There were 2 failures of the slide to lock back in the first 50 rds.
Some thoughts on the performance: I followed the instructions to ride the slide forward into battery. I have
never seen that recommendation for a semi-auto pistol - usually an absolute 'no-no.' I wonder if it caused the first-round FTF. Regarding the lock-back issues, I
may have limp-wristed the first one (this unit is a flyweight and there is virtually no recoil, so it's easy to slip into a 'soft' hold) but I made sure I held solid after that.
Hope to test for accuracy soon and compare the 9mm. I was shooting steel plates today and had no problem hitting the 5"-6" plates rapid-fire at 10 yds. I think this unit has some real potential.
