77/44 trigger job
« on: January 30, 2012, 12:57:58 PM »
Sorry if this question has already been asked a zillion times, but I'm new to this rifle and want to find out.  How hard is it to do a trigger job on a Ruger 77/44?  Is it better to get one from Timney or Rifle Basix?  I have a good gunsmith in mind, but I don't want to take any chances.  Thanks in advance for your reply.

Very easy. No worries - just make sure the safety still works once you are done.

Triggers on the 77 tang safety come complete with adjust ment screws but I can not find a bit of information any where on what screw does what.
The 77 mark II trigger is far different. Information on how to clean that trigger up can be found on the internet.

i replaced the trigger spring from a brownells spring kit and polished the trigger moving parts with a fine polishing agent on a cotton wheel on my dremel tool. i just went slow and it came out with a  safe smooth light trigger pull. i,m going to do it to three 77/22,s i own. i have shot several deer with the 77/44, they were all under 100 yds and one shot complete pass thru kills. eastbank.

Well, I guess I don't have to ask how the accuracy was.
I've wanted one of these ever since I read the first article on it.
I just hate paying the price of new.
I carry a single shot.
'cause it only takes one shot.
