This is not a Rep vs Dem who lies more thread, It's a general comment regarding all politicians.
Why do they feel they need to lie or make non-factual statements?
Gov. Jan Brewer came under fire for making conflicting statements about her father's military service. In this case Brewer appears to have misstated her father's military record.
Gov. Jan Brewer said in a recent interview that her father died fighting Nazi Germany. In fact, the death of Wilford Drinkwine came 10 years after World War II had ended. During the war, Drinkwine worked as a civilian supervisor for a naval munitions depot in Hawthorne, Nev. He died of lung disease in 1955 in California.
The Nazi comments... they are awful," she said, her voice dropping. "Knowing that my father died fighting the Nazi regime in Germany, that I lost him when I was 11 because of that... and then to have them call me Hitler's daughter. It hurts. It's ugliness beyond anything I've ever experienced."
- I can overlook small embellishments most times by our political leaders, but grow weary of this kind of stuff just to curry favor or empathy from a particular group of people.
As a person who comes from a long family legacy of military service to this country, while I commend her fathers service to our country I think non factual statements such as these do a disservice and injustice to those service men/woman who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country.
