mecGar magazines in Sig

I have been saving my Sig magazines and using MecGar magazines. A fellow shooter told me that Sig magazines ARE MecGar magazines. Anybody know if this is right? I don't doubt it with the flawless functioning I have gotten with the MecGars. I have one that stays in the gun compressed for 6 years now with no apparent weakening. Gun is P220

Mec-Gar is the current OEM manufacturer of the magazines.

As of the last contract signing, Mec-Gar will no longer sell these magazies under their own label and packaging.

Thanks, now I don't need to save my Sig mags. No wonder Mec Gar mags have given such great performance! P.S. Sigs are kind of expensive but Colt SAA's are really expensive!

No fooling.

I only have three SAAs at the moment, but there are seven SIGs in the stable.

Just took delivery on my P220ST, I really like this one.

I recently traded for a SIG P228. I had my dealer order me another factory 10-round mag. A few days later I found CDNN's ad for MecGar P228 mags(10-rounders). CDNN's price was $14.98(nickled). My dealer charged me $35! The ONLY difference was the packaging....

I have at 4 13 round aftermarket mags for the 228. I sold my 228 years ago (got a 45) but forgot to sell the mags. A couple of them are new, at least one is used but not abused. I would sell the batch to someone for $100 plus shipping to where ever you are.

colt_saa,
Do you still have the 228 mags? If so who made them? If it was MecGar I would be interested.

Could you check 'em out and get back to me? If they are made by either Sig or MecGar, they are in real good shape, no dents, rust, cracks, and are 13 rnd P228 mags, I would like to buy them. Please let me know.

I know they are not SIGs

I do not think I ever used them. There are no dings or dents.

As to surface corrosion, I will have to look. I have not owned the 228 for 6-8 years. I only recently realized that I still owned the mags.

I will be back at the other place tommorrow. I will pull them out. I could drop them on my scanner and send you pic if you like.

Colt_saa,
Please just check the name to see if they are made by MecGar and that they are still in good shape. If so, I'm interested in them. Thanks, dmachine.

MecGar is the OEM for SIG magazines and they do have a no-sell agreement with SIGArms.  However, another (?) company in Italy makes Novaks magazines which work as well, and the 8 rnd .45 mags are better!  When you look at the mags they look and feel like Mecgar mags and would swear that they are turned out in the same factory!  The Novaks 8 rnd mags are true 8 rnd mags and work like they should.  The Mecgar 8 rnd mags are just the 7 rnd mags with a slightly extended butt plate, or whatever.  They don't work well over the long haul.  By the way, LE that have to carry the so-called 8 rnd magazines might want to consider loading them only to 7 rnds so the spring doesn't screw you up at an embarrasing moment.

I have a SIG 228.  When the magazine ban was looming, and I still had my FFL, I ordered spare mags.  I have the two original 13 round mags, two 15 round mags, and a 30 round mag.  I especially like the 30 rounder when I go to the range.  I can shoot 10 rounds at each bull of a three stack square target before I have to reload!  And, with the 100 round bulk packs of Winchester 9mm ammo at Walmart for $11, I can do quite a bit of economical shooting!
Success is a journey, not a destination...  Might as well enjoy the ride!!
