To get this slightly back on topic  ;D here is a good article on 358 diam bullets albeit on the 358 win instead of the 356 but remember a 356win is only a slightly loaded down version (because of the case capacity) of the 358win

Could see the boxer in him but he looked stout built and a lil bigger boned that any boxer i had seen sounds like a great addition to your family. You use your Fiest for squirrel or coon or any other assorted creatures? I used to have a beagle and it was a good time running rabbits. Just hearing him dog the heck out of them was my favorite part.

George, a great read.  Paco made me happy :D ;D :D ;D   He confirms what I had hoped for.....a 300 yard rifle with 200 -225 gr. bullets.  I keep a large binder with information like this filed by caliber.  In it goes.  Thanks.

Update and mini range report:

I sighted her in this morning....not totally finished.  Ten degrees and zero wind.  I chronyed my 200 gr. Hornady PSP over H4895 hand loads at 2328 fps and Winchester 200 gr. factory Power Points @ 2343, which surprised me.  Because of the ice and cold, I sighted in at 40 yards which should be about dead on at 100.  The last two shots after the final adjustment  were in the ten ring and went through the same hole.  You could barely tell the second shot was there.  I had to quit at that point because my hands had become about useless.  When it warms up some, I'm going to try a faster load sighted in 2 inches high at 100.  All in all, I'm more than pleased with the rifle.  I think it's going to be a tack driver with the lighter bullets.

Good to hear Pete!

I was thinking of a range trip this weekend myself as I have only a small job for Saturday. BUT they are calling for single digits and with my thin blood that may not be the best idea.... ::)

Lets see some targets next time!!

Im gonna try to order the reamer for my conversion tonight.

Don, I'd say it's the same as the .38-55 with the 213s...not too bad at all.  But I wasn't quite shooting in a tee shirt either ::)

Last night, before I fell asleep, I was thinking about the surprising 2343 fps out of the Winchester factory ammo.  Then it dawned on me.  All .356 rifles are modern manufacture.  The old liability factor is pretty much gone.
