Remington 1100 G3 Problems
« on: March 07, 2012, 04:12:53 PM »
Well my dad gave my sister a 20 GA NWTF Special Edition 1100 G3 for her first gun.   The only problem, its been an absolute POS nightmare since the day we pulled it from the box.   I think I finally worked all of the factory provided kinks out, and now I've provided one of my own that I can't figure out.  This is the first 1100 I've ever touched so don't make too much fun of me.

I stripped it down 99% and went to put it back together, and watched as an unknown piece fell out.  Now, I don't know for sure how it goes back.

As far as parts that go around the exterior of the mag tube, to work the action i have 4 pieces:
-The o-ring ((barrel seal)I know where this one goes)
-Piston (I know where this goes)
-Piston seal (know where this goes)
- the mystery piece.....   I think it fell out of the gas cylinder.   I downloaded the 1100/11-87 manual from remington, and it shows nothing similar to this piece on the 1100.  The piece I have looks similar to whats referred to as the "barrel seal activator" on picture 23a of the manual.  Unfortunately this refers to parts that will be found in the 11-87, not the 1100.  it also says it will be black, and mine is stainless or aluminum.  I also think it fell out of the gas cylinder.  In the photo of the 11-87 parts, it shows it going between the piston and o-ring.  If this is what mine should have, it would not have been in the gas cylinder which would place it on the other side of the o-ring.     The parts diagram doesn't show anything even close to what I have in my hand.

So what do I have and where does it go.  I have an opinion on how i think it goes back together, but don't want to test it and have gas blowing parts all out of whack.  No photos or videos online I can find are G3 specific or show parts similar to what I'm holding.

SO I'm asking if anyone with a G3 sitting around can take a photo of the proper order of assembly for me.  I'm pretty surprised that remington doesn't have more specific (G3) parts diagrams but if they do, i can't find it.

thanks in advance. I hope to have this thing working for my sister.

I found this while surfing the web.  This is a picture of a 20ga g3.  I think I see the silver piece towards the end of the tube.  They said it was kind of like a 1100/11-87 hybrid.
