Browning Superposed Trigger

Gentlemen,
I recently purchased a 12 Ga. 1957 Superposed. I have not had a chance to fire it
yet so I bought a couple of snap caps so I could dry fire the gun. I inserted the caps in the chambers and closed the action. I expected to be able to fire both barrels but regardless which barrel I selected only that barrel would fire and not the second. Is this normal? Does the trigger mechanism need the recoil from the first barrel firing to cock the trigger so that the second barrel can be fired? Any response would be appreciated.

I would say yes. That is how my Citori was. If you take the palm of your hand and strike the butt plate hard after you pull the trigger once it will usually set the trigger for the second shot. Striking the butt plate simulates the recoil.

That is correct. You must strike the butt after tripping the trigger.
