My New (to me) .410 Autoloader
« on: April 10, 2012, 07:10:44 AM »
A plain old .410 Model 11-48

The MOD choke bbl Date Code reads as 1955

I like the top/tang safety, ILO the crossbolt safety in the triggerguard - It must be an aftermarket/custom install, since the CBS is still in the TG.

Nice gun!  Hope you reload for that bugger.  Was just looking at .410 loads and cheapest target load I could find at Gander was $13.00/box!!!

Nope, I don't have to reload - I have Grandkids.

Every holiday/B-Day, when they ask me what I'd like, the answer's "ammo"  :D

I have other .410's, and last Christmas one of them gave me a flat of .410 ammo - so it looks like I'll be all set for a bit.

Does the tang safety actually work ?  I just can't figure how to hook it up . with the stock bolt and receiver bulkhead in the way . Why would it be mounted in the wood , looks like a decoration of some kind to me !

The tang safety isn't in the wood, strictly speaking - it's attached to the receiver & bolt recoil spring tube's boss, and only inletted into the head of the buttstock.

I had a chance to shoot the gun a little bit Friday PM (about half-a-box of shells), and everything, including the safety, worked just fine/normally.
