Hard cover cabelas catalog
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:53:07 AM »
How much do you have to spend before cabelas sends you a hard cover catalog? Last year I bought about five hundred dollars worth of fishing gear from cabelas for a new niche in my fishing. Later they sent me a hard cover catalog about two inches thick. I was surprised by that. I didn't even look at it.

I think it was the 50th Anniversary catalog.  I just put it into the recycle bin yesterday.  Knowing the way things happen, it will probably sell for big bucks on ebay in about a year. 8)

No idea how much was spent but I do have quite a few. Heck, they sent me three in one year all different colors too. So you know where a bunch of my money went.

I do the NACHTEZ thing now.

My wife gave it to one of her brothers and he was delighted to get it. Looks like they make good and free gifts for the right person. I don't think I ever look at printed catalogs anymore since we got the web.

I have gotten a few of them.
I think they show up if you spend about $500.
I also think they show up if you go to a Cabelas store and sign up for one of their credit cards or customer rewards cards.
My Uncle is jelouse that I was sent one to my parents house after sending stuff there. It was the first one he had seen.
I think I have 6 of them around here, I have no problem tossing the soft covers but for some reason I keep the hard covers.

I have been getting them for about five years now.  I get four a year, one in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.  Of course I spend a lot of money with them.  I get all my shoes from them.  My wife gets her coats from them, and a lot of clothing.  I order stuff I can not get from the big box stores.  Folding chairs, the ones you get from the box stores will only support 225 lbs.  I will crush one, I weigh 250.  I order the same thing, but rated for 275 or 300 pounds from Cabela's.  I order camo insulated suites that are water proof for hunting from them as well.  I order just all kinds of stuff from Cabela's.  Most of my friends get the hard bound catalogs as well.

When I recieve a new one, my wife takes them to her office, for claims investigation.  When she has a question with a young GI about price of his damaged or missing sporting equipment.  She pulls out the hardbound Cabela's Catalog to check the price.  The GIs think she has a special deal with Cabela's to get the hard bound catalog.

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I have no clue what the requirement is to get them but I've been getting them about as long as they've been producing them I guess. They are a compilation of ten or twelve catalogs they put out each year. I really prefer to use the soft cover catalogs to work up my orders but I keep the hard cover ones around at least until the next one shows up.

I imagine I spend more than $500 with them each year or at least most every year.

I've gotten a couple of them in the past, but although I've never bought anything approaching even a hundred dollars, never mind 500, I don't have any clue how they sent me a couple of hard cover ones.  Or even why they send me any at all, for what little business I've done with them.  They are nice to look through, though.
