Is this a New-Old .223?
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:49:25 AM »
I was at LL Bean today and picked up what I think is a heck of a deal.  Its a .223 rifle, 20" bbl on a black plastic stock.  It has a Herters shell carrier on the stock, weaver scope base, sling, sling hardware, and a case!!!!!

The serial number is NP30****.  The good folks at LL Bean said they thought LL Bean had bought up some old stock and that this rifle was a "package deal".  The rifle is "New Unfired" but was sold as used.  The price was $185.00 and I thought this VERY good.  So much so I could not leave it.

Could this really be a 2000 model year? ??? ....and if so it is then a 1-12 twist?  Any assistance is VERY much appreciated.  Thanks, Jim.

Sounds like a Superlight made in 2000 which would be 1:12", congrats!  ;)

With the LOP at 11 3/4" its a bit short BUT.....can I add a regular butt stock and get a "normal" adult  :P  sized LOP?  If not, I'll just use it for winter hunts ;D ;D ;D :-* Much appreciated.

It sound like a youth model with the short length of pull. An adult buttstock will swap right over, no problems at all....<><....:)

SAWEEEET!  Thats what I thought but wanted to check.  I happen to have an extra MC laminated stock!!!  Sounds like I made a smart decision to pick it up.  Thanks MSP.
