In most cases the gun has been perfected , seems now the ammo is catching up.

This slow mo of a tank (shotgun blast) suprises me because the shot cup will travel with the shot. I dont know the velocity but if it is close to the sabot round they use it would be around 7200 fps. It would certainly clear some ground.

  So, with all the special rounds..breaching rounds, fins etc..it should be clear why "fighting" shotguns are cylinder bore..

Yep, maybe , I would bet the first ones back in the day were cut off longer bbls . Which lost their choke when cut. And the pratice just continued .
