Encore forend screws
« on: March 12, 2012, 03:30:08 PM »
Anyone know what size thread the forend screws are? I placed an order with S&W 10 days agao and the worm who took the order, told me they'd ship out that day. Today I received a back order notice. I just figured I'd go out and buy some from a machine screw supplier.

They are not a common thread size outside of gunsmithing.  They are 8-40.  The Encore forends uses to different lenghts, an 8-40-1/2" and 8-40-3/4".  I have bought them from MidwayUSA in the past.  They aren't cheap, but the alternative is probably buying a large quantity costing more from a screw supplier.

MIdway sells them as Encore Rifle and Encore Pistol, but I think they are the same set of screws.  You might want a couple of washers to go with them.
