RB #4 miss fire
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:28:09 AM »
Hi,
Recently purchased a RB #4 in 22 short-Long.  Problem, firing pin hitting very slightly OFF the rim towards the center of the shell. Have tried 5 or 6 different brands and types of .22's. At times, after 4 or 5 strikes it will fire. Action is tight and has been cleaned.  Firing pin mikes @ .0855 and .7505.  Chamber fit is slightly loose but not overly loose. What do I do next ??? Any and all help will be appreciated.

Using a small dimond hone, start removing material from the inner edge of the firing pin until the outer edge dimples the rim more and hits first.  Go only a few strokes at a time and check in between.  ;)

Tacklebury,
I will give that a try..If I remember correctly, there was a slight slope on it when I was attempting to "mike"it. Will check an see which way it was sloped. Thanx for the info.
