Well, finally got good conditions to shoot. I think the rifle's gonna be a keeper. I was amazed how much higher POI was with the .358s. It is obvious I'm going to have to figure out how many clicks needed to adjust between .356 and .358. Top target is .356. Bottom .358

Richard, I chronyed my .356 hand loads at 2328 and the Win factory .356 at 2343. I haven't reloaded or chronyed the .358s. I'm sure the factory .358 is a lot quicker than either .356 loads.

I wanna get out next weekend with mine!! Working on loads now.

The 358 will def be moving faster than that! Last I checked from my 20" BLR I was getting mid 2500's. That was a 200 silver tip.

2400 is my target with a 200 a bit les with the 220. I don't think I will even try 250g, that's what I have the Whelen for.

I was thrilled to find a good load for my shortie Maxi last Friday!!!!

I recall your thread on that Richard. My .357 throws .38s higher than mags or maxis. Den Y dis?? $:-\$ $:-\$ $:-\$ $:-\$ Compare my two targets. Those .358s are REALLY up there, and I know dey ain't runnin no 1500

I chucked two .356s and one .358 at the 300 yard gong for giggles and all three hit. I didn't go way up there yet to see how far apart they were. Thats a long walk in the snow for an old fart.

Far as your point of aim, aren't those 2 different bullets? Could be the difference, I've had some same weight bullets of different stripes shoot a might bit different.

Bobby, you're right about that. It could well be the bullets. They're both 200 gr. The Hornady SP loaded in the .356 I believe would have a higher BC than the Winchester Silvertip in the factory .358s. I'd have to look up the BC on the Winchester and compare it with what I've got on the Hornady. Then of course there is the velocity factor also. This is the kind of stuff that makes it so interesting.....that and getting the kinks out of a new rig.

Trying to get a receiver packed up to go in for a 35 rem. barrel. There maybe a 356 in my future

CW, I really couldn't tell any difference. Perhaps the .358s muzzle blast was a bit more out of that 18 inch barrel.

WOW is right!!! Some calibers are rediculiously priced!!! Have you seen Hornets or Bees? Pushing $70!!! CRAZY!!! So glad I reload!!!!!

356/307 brass ain't cheap either but at least you can reuse that!

Yeah Brian, only about a buck or a little more to make them the first time and not two and a half. Then you're not buying brass for a while and it really gets practical. It's unreal that they can charge so much for such dinky little rounds as the Hornet and Bee. We oughta become "Bee" farmers

The bee is only a necked down .32-20 and I can reload them cheaper than buying .22 magnums.

I have had a long affection towards the Hornet and the Bee. Growing up shooting ground hawgs with my father and grand father. Pop had (has) a Winchester 43 in Bee and grand pops another one in Hornet. One of the first rifle purchases I made was my Savage 23B in 25/20 cause I could not get one in Hornet!!

Grand pa is long gone and that Hornet is now my uncles. Who does not hunt or shoot. I have mentioned that rifle and my interest in it a number of times. Hopefully he will let me buy it one day. I hope he does so or makes a note of it in his will as he has children whe would like all firearms to be destroyed ...

Thru hand loading many things are new again or affordable.
