Remington 870 3.5" chambered barrel on 3" receiver?

I know it won't feed 3.5" shells, but would it hurt a 3" receiver to shoot 3" shells out of a 3.5" chambered barrel? 

Reason I ask is that I have a line on a used barrel but it has a 3.5" chamber.  He says it fits all receivers safely, but just won't feed 3.5" shells.

I concur.  Just finished checking the Remington website and it seems as long as you don't go over the receiver rating you are fine.  So 3" receivers get 3" shells not 3.5".

all 870 12 gauge barrels 23" and up are all chambered for 3 1/2 inch its not a problem at all

so the chamber is 4 inches long ? on all bbls over 23 inchs long ?

what will not eject? All 12 guage barrels are chambered in 3 1/2 inch since 2005. as long as you shoot 3 in shells or a receiver that has a 3" port you'll be fine.

I think he was saying on the magnum 3 " reciver a 3.5 shell won't eject . On the super mag the 3.5 reciver it will.
So what is the chamber depth on the bbls ?

 That's right shootall ! A 3' ejection port ain't going to clear a 3 1/2" hull , whether the barrel has a 3 1/2" chamber or not ! Evidently Divivlamore didn't read or comprehend the OP very well .
