Whoa, that is extremely sharp, Dom!
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Impressive!  I'm looking forward to the video, as I'm sure you're looking forward to shooting it.

A thought occurred to me that may have been a similar thought that other people had before cartriges came along.  On a design like this, could you incorporate a gravity fed hopper that could automatically remove the spent cap then press a new one onto each nipple as it rotated?  That would make it truly automatic feeding - you'd only have to stop when you ran out of bullets or caps.

Thanks for the compliment.   What you are describing is only one part of the reloading process.  It would still need each of the 5 barrels manually loaded from the muzzle with powder, ball and wad.  The initial design idea with this cannon was simplicity.  The 1862 Gatling gun may probably be what you are thinking of.  Video below.  [Youtube video credit, uploaded by vbbsmyt]

The price is reduced to $350.  I'll cover the shipping in the US.

That's easily a $900 - $1000 worth of signal cannon. I'm surprised that you're selling it so inexpensively. If times weren't tough with me, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Your machining, welding, and assembly work are amazing.

That guy, Rick, from Pawn Stars (Las Vegas) is a sucker for cannons. Bet you could get him to pay $750 for it.

A question Dom, is there any provision for breaking the unit down for cleaning? Can the barrel section be removed as one piece to make servicing easier? Thanks, Pete

Pete,  There is a 6-32 screw and nut in the front of barrel assembly thru the axle.  Remove it and the axle will slide out the back, then the barrel assembly will drop from the gun.

Thanks for the compliment.  I learned long ago to not get too attached to the stuff I build.  That can be very difficult sometimes.  Reality sets in when the bills need to be paid, then stuff needs to sell.  I always look forward to the next project.  Dom

I made a video of the Hotchkiss.  The top video is on how to load it, bottom video is firing it.

Just curious, what caliber is the gun and have you sold it ever?  I'd sure be interested if you haven't.  Smithy.

It is a 25 caliber cannon and I sold it last year.
