Thanks for the post, and it was fun keeping tabs and watching the results.

I loved the photos of those who scored, and the stories also, and getting to see some of the youngsters getting a chance to participate right along with the seasoned hunters, and I was lucky enough to contribute myself, so it was a fun thread with on a more personal touch.    At least that was how I viewed it, and I appreciate all your effort janitor, and you did a great job of keeping it straight and timely with daily input which again was great.

It was interesting watching my old favorite the 45-70, which seemed to struggle at the beginning where it looked like the 44 mag and .357 Maxi were going to leave everyone, including the old standby 30-30 in the dust.

Another odd observation is how the old all time big game calibers like the .243, .308 and the 30-06, and .270 just never seemed to show up as often as you would think they would, and then there is the wild card, the .22 Hornet which seemed to do it all.

Lot's of others that you knew would be there, and I know a lot of folks probably didn't post their success, but there is still a few weeks to go, and always next season.   ;)
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

Thanks Jimbo47- I agree with you pretty much word for word, the 45-70 sure seems to deserve a hat tip from the majority, a couple kept it interesting though. We will see how the finish goes, it has been fun!

  Hello Fellow Handi Owners/Hunters/Shooters:

Since the title of this post is "Handi success stories" I did not hunt this past season I did have a lot of success in the Handi World. I only had 3 H&R's at the start of deer season, when it was over here I had added 3 more to the original count + an extra 20ga bbl. First was the 243 youth, next was a 20ga SB1 to which I put a 30-30 bbl on, and last was a 223 heavy bbl. Handi so, therefore I also had a succesful season, I'll get some deer next season,,,,I hope!!! lol
I have enjoyed all the game posts as well as the firearms pictures this past season,  thanks,
  HM

My son shota big doe with his 44 mag handi, during our firearms season, here in Indiana.  I bought a little pardner 20 ga. smoothbore and got 5 squirrels with it, this fall.

Good thing this was just for 2011.  Back in 2008, when my son took the 30-06 handi to Africa, ya coulda added 7 kills for it, in 10 days. ;D

True there are several ways to measure success, sounds like you had a good year smokehouserex.
Good job with the .270 rosankyharleyman,  and Mad Dog and his son are putting meat on the table, I wonder what this type success story would tell us over in the shotgun section, I think a lot of us like our 20 ga..... Well Here we are at the end of this years success thread. I would like to thank every one who participated and those who pm'd to keep me on track when I missed someone.
I hope we all learned from this thread and if it is done again next year I hope you fill in the calibers to give even more of a showing on the list.
I enjoyed the stories and pictures!
Take care and be safe. thejanitor
