Question about T-nuts
« on: February 02, 2004, 02:29:54 AM »
I am a contender newbie, and just purchased a used 7tcu barrel that did not have the dovetailed t-nut on the botom for the fore end screws.  Is there anywhere to buy these?  Can I get parts from the factory?  What in the heck it is called?

This is a 10" factory barrel in basically new condition.  There aren't even any scratch markes where the t-nut should be. This made me wonder if it wasn't ever put on, but I "Borrowed" one from another barrel, and it slides in and out of the notch pretty easy.

Thanks all for the help..

I'd call the factory since it's a factory barrel. While you're on the phone with them ask them to send you an owners manual, part breakdown and price list. It's always good to have on the shelf and they're free. Lots of folks have the exploded views scanned in and can send them to you digitally, but I like hard copies. the owners manual has one in it too, but they changed the part numbers so ask for the updated breakdown.

Thanks guys.  I called TC this morning, and they are going to send me a new "Dovetail Lock" as the part is called.   I had asked for a manual a couple of weeks ago, and hopefully it is on its way by now as well.

Amazing customer service in this day of "What's in it for me?" atitude.

Thanks again...
