Our Texan........
« on: February 24, 2012, 05:16:33 AM »

             IS GONE !! :'(

Monday was a sad day in the home of BBF. Max, our beloved shelter dog from Bastrop County, TX had his last trip to the Vet on Monday PM.
He would have been 7 years old this Fall.

We found out two weeks ago he had severe diabetes. His Mommy who considered him her "little boy" was hoping he would be with us for a bit longer.

He was in so much discomfort Monday that we couldn't wait any longer. Waggling his tail he still hopped into the truck, he loved to travel, and started his "Last Mile"

Now the house is empty. :( :(

He is very much missed.

That's tough man, sorry about that.   :-[

We had one of ours ran over in the street Wednesday.
Guy didn't even slow down and look back too busy going 25 or better over the speed limit.
She didn't have any business out in the road other than still being a dumb puppy.
Still hard to take.

Once again sorry about your buddy.

Sorry for your loss. It's never easy when you lose a good friend that is part of the family. I was never a dog person until I met my wife. She had a chocolate lab she raised since a pup. That lab sure changed the way I felt about dogs. What a great friend she was, always happy to see me. She loved to run around the yard and play with all of the children that would come to visit. We finally had to have her put to sleep because of severe seizures. She was 14 years old. I cried that night for the first time in years. Our vet lives right next door to us and is great. He made a cast of her paw print for our daughter and we had her cremated. She sleeps on the mantel above the fireplace now. After a few years of indecision we finally got another chocolate pup. This one seems to be a reincarnation of her. The same looks when I come home. Always happy and wanting to play with the children. A tongue that never stops, and always there when you need a friend. Like I said, it's never easy but it will get better with time.

Sorry for your loss, I know the pain; I recently lost an old friend, a shelter dog that came to us.  I didn’t want her at first, but she imprinted on me and was like a shadow for about eight years, she is sorely missed.

PS  I never knew or gave it a thought that cats and dogs could get diabetes.

Neither did I until a very unique cat suffered from it many many years ago.

PS I visit another much smaller Outdoor Site and there is a Forum available for anything to do with our four legged companions. How about that Mr. Administrator? It wouldn't even need a Mod...............I hope.
