amazing .243-SL accuracy results

90gr nosler bt @ 2882fps... 1st load, right outta tha book load....
group'd less than .75" @ 100yrds !!!!............ok, first off i let barrel cool 20-30 and sumtimes 45 minutes between shots and infared barrel to ambient temps before
another shot taken ..........thats what ya gotta do ifin ya want these barrels to produce
the accuracy you want.  you jus gotta remember, 1st shot froma cold barrel is all ya really need'n if ya know what yur do'n    that is, if yura hunter, .....paper shooter don't even needta own one these barrels.....straight-up, i'm be'n honest. one hasta know there
abillity before throw'n down ona barrel as this.................. and i am pleased with
its results   it goes where i point it like it shud. i'm now look'n for more them .243
superlight barrels for tha crew here in tha swamp 
work'n on better accuracy as i speak.......and i know i can achieve it.........

Don't sell those little barrels short , mine ( 243 ) will keep 5 shots in under 2" at 100 as fast as I can load & shoot , but once the barrel heats up it turns into a shotgun . 
 
Point being , if a follow up shot is needed , it will do the job .

Patty and I have had our SL 7mms since last Fall.  We've only shot them in cold weather.  Shooting at a normal rate for a Handi off the bench, they never get warm enough to mess up accuracy........however, shivering sorta moves your POI    I'm sure it'll be a different story this summer.
 
I really like the SL seven, and I've got 3 spare frames............243?.....Hmmmm.....perhaps.

+1 with you on methodology Doc!
FWIW, Ive shot in matches on hot sunny days where the rest of the boys all would stand their rifles up in the sun. That saturation heat on one side of a steel tube will bend it; not much, but out of the 10ring. Mine would rest in the shade  .
Remember, all else being equal, maturity and experience will overcome youth and inattention to detail  .

I traded my 243 sl, but not because it wouldn't shoot.  Three shots MOA every time.  After the third it would start walking.  I've yet to shoot at anything  three times other than paper, and one dang pig a few years ago. 
 
I graduated to a 280 and liked it better, but nothing wrong with the sl!

Ya know, I have a sl in .243 and it never shot good. I will some day run some lighter bullets through it to see if it just doesn't like 100 gr slugs.  Anyone notice their .243 sl likes a lighter bullet. We don't use the gun at all anymore so a trade might work for ya if ya want. I have to warn the O.P. it never did shoot better than 5" @ 50 yds. I don't know why.

I've got several Superlights, two 243s, one of which was rebored and chambered to 260 Rem, the 6x45 and the 7mm-08 Light, as long as the first two rounds are close(almost touching as they often are) I'm happy, I don't have to wait between shots, just shoot, reload and shoot again if needed, not unlike shootin a critter, works for me.

so, we wenta shoot'n tha SL-.243 again.  this time with 70gr sierra blitzkang
 
she done very good on fire.... with 1/2" 2 shot group before scattergun affect
 
we putter away til next time.
