Well, I finally got around to going to the range after ordering some equipment for the Dillon press. I had to order a new caliber conversion and die set. Also, I ordered a case gauge and some new brass. I only need to get primers and bullets. Alas, I digress. I got to the range and having never shot a 44 magnum before I had gone to the range three weeks ago and rented a S&W 629 and bought some ammo. I only shot half of it and felt I knew enough. Well, today when I went I shot the rest of it and all I can say is this gun really impressed me
Though I only shot out to 15 yards and off a rest I had really tight groups. Man I was happy. So I went and bought some more ammo, Winchester 240 gr, and touched off a round. OMG what a surprise! Now I have shot hot 45 Colt and even had a .460 at one time. Yeah, I got rid of that beast. I guess I forgot how a substantial revolver shoots. So, I need to start to reload and work my way up. It's obvious that the other ammo was very soft. So I have some gloves to use and will start the reloading process in a week or so. I'll shoot some lead for a while and get used to cleaning the revolver. Still, I like this new addition. I'm just used to 1911s. I really want to hunt with this. I guess I have some work ahead of me. Feel free to offer advice.
