Storm center 2012
« on: March 02, 2012, 04:29:17 AM »
Some old lore I remember was that a warm February means hurricanes. I hope our storm season is light, but these recent tornadoes in the midwest have not been good.

How is the storm situation in your area?

Here in central Minnesota, we just got our first real snowfall of the year. That's still not too unusual as there have been years in living memory where friends have had their gardens in by the end of March.

The light snow cover in most of the state will tend to allow the ground to warm sooner in spring, which may mean an earlier tornado season in the farm counties of the south.

I am hoping the warmer than usual winter will not cause the waters of the atlantic and gulf to warm so much that we have an active hurricane season.

Our winter has been exceptionally mild, especially in comparision to last year.
Almost polar opposites, it was 78 degree yesterday.  :o
We've had one light dusting of snow all winter.
We're still in a bit of a drought as far a moisture goes.

Tornado season is upon us down here.
